Job summary

Hill Dickinson LLP in Liverpool is seeking a Paralegal to support solicitors with managing clinical negligence cases, attend conferences, settlements, and assist in drafting witness statements and court documents. The role may involve secondments to clients to support claims and inquest management.

The Health Litigation team is rapidly expanding, offering national coverage and opportunities for development in a leading NHS-focused practice.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a similar role supporting solicitors with proactive case management.
• Ability to work independently in addition to as part of a team.
• Ability to deliver technically accurate and appropriate advice to clients.
• Ability to work to deadlines and run an effective diary system.
• Demonstrates understanding of client needs/expectations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to influence and negotiate.
• Shows commercial awareness in understanding of the market and sector.
• Some prior experience in clinical negligence is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assisting solicitors with the running of clinical negligence cases for NHS Resolution.
• Instructing experts and obtaining factual evidence from witnesses.
• Drafting Letters of Responses for review by solicitors.
• Updating clients and taking responsibility for meeting deadlines.

Role Overview

Introduction to the role:

This role involves supporting solicitors with management of their cases including attending conferences, settlement meetings, court and assisting in drafting witness statements, court documents etc. The role may also require the paralegal to be seconded to clients to support claims and inquest management.

Introduction to the Team

This role provides the opportunity to join one of the fastest growing teams in Hill Dickinson. The Health Litigation team have been growing year-on-year with a team of over 100 lawyers and national coverage, we are one of the leading firms providing legal advice and support to the NHS and independent healthcare organisations.

• Assisting solicitors with the running of clinical negligence cases for NHS Resolution.
• Instructing experts and obtaining factual evidence from witnesses.
• Drafting Letters of Responses for review by solicitors.
• Updating clients and taking responsibility for meeting deadlines.
• There may also be an opportunity for paralegals to undertake client secondments, including with local NHS Trusts.
