Job summary

DWF is seeking a Paralegal for their Major Injury and Casualty team in Birmingham. The role supports senior team members on defendant casualty caseloads, with responsibilities spanning drafting, investigations, evidence gathering, and client advisory work.

Ideal candidates will have experience in Employers Liability, Public Liability, and catastrophic injury matters, plus strong MS Office skills and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience assisting a defendant personal injury caseload including Employers Liability, Public Liability and catastrophic injury work.

Responsibilities

  • To assist senior team members on a varied defendant Casualty caseload
  • Drafting court documents and adhering to strict deadlines
  • Conducting investigations, gathering evidence, preparing advice to clients, identifying medical experts and preparing instructions
  • Reviewing medical records and other case related documents
  • General day to day administration tasks including keeping the case management system up to date and in line with client service level requirements
  • Providing the highest level of client care at all times to a satisfactory and speedy settlement in accordance with the client requirements

Our Major Injury and Casualty team at DWF and are currently hiring for a Paralegal.

The Major Injury and Casualty team act for a large number of insurers, many of whom are household names, dealing with complex, catastrophic and large loss claims. The team handle a range of files including Employers Liability (EL) / Public Liability (PL) matters.

The role is hybrid, and the successful individual will be expected to work a minimum of 2 days per week in our Birmingham office.

Responsibilities
  • To assist senior team members on a varied defendant Casualty caseload
  • Drafting court documents and adhering to strict deadlines
  • Conducting investigations, gathering evidence, preparing advice to clients, identifying medical experts and preparing instructions
  • Reviewing medical records and other case related documents
  • General day to day administration tasks including keeping the case management system up to date and in line with client service level requirements
  • Providing the highest level of client care at all times to a satisfactory and speedy settlement in accordance with the client requirements
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential
  • Previous experience assisting a defendant personal injury caseload including Employers Liability, Public Liability and catastrophic injury work
  • The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, whilst working to strict deadlinesExcellent attention to detail, with the ability to quickly and carefully analyse files and sensitive data
  • Computer literate including proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Relevant Legal qualifications e.g. LLB, LLM, LPC
Desirable
  • Previous knowledge of working with Visual Files case management system
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the importance and use of Management Information
