Job summary

UNICAT Technologies in Huddersfield is seeking an experienced Panel Wirer to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble, wire and modify electrical control panels and switchgear systems in line with electrical drawings and industry standards, ensuring high quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, wire and modify electrical control panels and switchgear per drawings and industry standards.
• Ensure panels are built to high quality, accuracy and safety.
• Wire contactors, relays, MCBs, inverter drives, PLCs and other components to schematic drawings.
• Fit electrical components to backplates and prepare cable routing.
• Maintain health and safety procedures and workmanship standards.

Monday - Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30, Friday: 08:00 - 13:00

The Role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for assembling, wiring and modifying electrical control panels and switchgear systems in line with electrical drawings, specifications and industry standards.

You’ll play an important role in ensuring every panel is built to the highest standards of quality, accuracy and safety.

Your Responsibilities

• Cutting, stripping and crimping wires, including identification using heat shrink markers.
• Populating terminal rails and fitting identification markers.
• Drilling backplates using hand drills.
• Preparing and mounting cable trunking.
• Fitting electrical components to backplates.
• Wiring contactors, relays, MCBs, inverter drives, PLCs and other components to schematic drawings.
• Fitting cable glands and screw-down labels.
• Stripping down Rittal enclosures for painting and rebuilding them afterwards.
• Maintaining excellent workmanship and adhering to health and safety procedures.
