Job summary

MTrec Ltd is recruiting a panel shop supervisor to lead a team of skilled operatives in a busy electrical panel manufacturing environment. You will drive day-to-day operations, ensure on-time production, and uphold quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, wiring and panel construction knowledge, and experience supervising production teams. On-site parking and a positive health & safety culture are offered.

Qualifications

  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations – BS 7671 is required.
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation or Maintenance.
  • C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of panel builders, wirers and operatives to meet production targets.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust workloads to meet schedules.
  • Ensure panels are built accurately according to drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Carry out in-process and final quality checks to meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping, health, safety and shop-floor discipline.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Quality teams.
  • Identify training needs and support development of future supervisors/leaders.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and address performance issues as required.
  • Investigate quality and production issues and drive root cause analysis.

MTrec Recruitment are proudly representing our specialist manufacturing client in their recruitment for a panel shop supervisor.

The role will lead a team of skilled operatives and oversee the day-to-day operations of the business.

The Job you will do:
  • Lead, motivate and manage a team of panel builders, wirers and manufacturing operatives, creating a positive culture of quality, safety and accountability.

  • Be aware of daily workloads and targets to ensure the panel shop meets the agreed production schedule and delivery requirements.

  • Monitor production progress throughout the day, identifying potential delays and taking corrective action early.

  • Ensure panels are built accurately and consistently in accordance with drawings, wiring schematics, specifications and company procedures.

  • Carry out regular in-process and final quality checks, ensuring workmanship meets company and customer requirements.

  • Ensure the correct materials, components, tools and equipment are available to support production.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, health and safety and general shop-floor discipline.

  • Work closely with Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management and Quality teams to resolve production and technical issues.

  • Support the team with panel building and wiring activities where required, particularly during periods of high demand or on complex builds.

  • Identify training and development requirements within the team and support the development of skills and future supervisors/leaders.

  • Conduct regular 1:1s with team members, provide feedback and address performance or capability issues where required.

  • Investigate recurring quality and production issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement across productivity, quality, cost, lead times and manufacturing processes.

  • Monitor agreed production KPIs and provide clear updates to the Production Manager on performance, issues, risks and resource requirements.

  • Promote a right-first-time approach and ensure non-conforming work is identified, controlled and reworked appropriately.

About you:
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations – BS 7671.

  • HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering.

  • NVQ (2356-99) Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation or Maintenance.

  • C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and manufacturing processes.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Proven experience working within an electrical panel manufacturing or electrical assembly environment.

  • Previous experience supervising, leading or coordinating a production team.

  • Good understanding of electrical panel construction, control panel wiring, components and manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring schematics and technical documents
