Control Panel Builder – Sandy – £37k Plus overtime
Control Panel Builder’s Key Responsibilities:
- Build, assemble and wire low-voltage control panels and associated electrical enclosures, working across AC and DC control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical layout drawings and bills of materials to ensure accurate panel construction.
- Install and terminate electrical components including circuit protection, relays, contactors, inverter drives, soft starters, solenoid valves, HMIs and PLC equipment.
- Fabricate and assemble panel components using hand and power tools, accurately measuring and marking out stainless steel, GRP, mild steel and galvanised materials.
- Carry out continuity testing and basic functional checks, maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and workshop organisation while working closely with design and test teams.
Skills & Experience Required as a Control Panel Builder:
- At least 4 years’ experience in electrical panel building or a closely related electrical assembly environment.
- Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical layout drawings.
- Experienced in wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination, cable routing and general panel wiring practices.
- Good understanding of both AC and DC control systems, with a careful and methodical approach to electrical assembly.
- Formal electrical qualifications or a completed apprenticeship would be advantageous, as would experience with EPLAN, detailed BOMs, PLC/HMI systems or industrial automation.
