Job summary

Sue Ryder is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine for a 15‑month fixed‑term, part‑time contract (6 PAs per week) with on‑call duties. The base is Berkshire West, Theale, with travel to Duchess of Kent Hospice and South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub.

Salary £63,696–£102,689 pro rata. You will join a multidisciplinary palliative care team, perform patient reviews, referrals triage, community visits, and participate in teaching and on‑call rotas.

Qualifications

• 2 years NHS experience
• Evidence of active involvement in audit, and understanding of clinical governance
• Ability to manage clinical workload and prioritise effectively
• Evidence of education expertise and experience
• Strong communication and teamworking skills, and caring attitude to patients
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience in palliative medicine (desirable)
• Knowledge of clinical research processes and evidence-based practice (desirable)
• IT skills, especially databases (desirable)
• Experience of reflecting on practice incidents (desirable)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Join our well-established palliative care team.
• Work in the South East Community Team with clinical duties including patient reviews, referral triage, community visits, and supporting advice services.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist palliative care, contribute to teaching and supervision, and participate in the on-call rota.
