Job summary

Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock is seeking a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team. This fixed-term post supports inpatient and community care with senior medical oversight.

The appointment involves up to 32 hours per week and a 1-in-5 non-residential on-call rota. Visa sponsorship is available; NHS pension arrangements apply. January 2027 start date.

Qualifications

• Doctor with at least four years of postgraduate experience in medicine.
• Interest in palliative medicine or plans to pursue a related career.
• Desirable: experience in UK specialist palliative care settings.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide middle tier medical cover across inpatient and community settings.
• Join a 1-in-5 non-residential on-call rota.
• Contribute to quality improvement projects and governance activities.
• Engage in education and multidisciplinary teamwork.
