Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Macmillan Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7) to deliver specialist palliative and end of life care across community and hospital settings. The post includes referrals, caseload management, and supervision of band 6 and below, coordinating with hospice and primary care teams.

The role requires advanced palliative care skills, excellent communication for difficult conversations, and the ability to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in specialist palliative and end of life care
• Excellent communication skills for sensitive conversations and breaking news
• Line management experience and supervision of junior staff

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based specialist palliative care advice and support to patients and their carers
• Lead service development and educational audit and research projects
• Provide education and training to the multidisciplinary team across care settings
• Provide line management to band 6 and below staff
• Support compliance with CQC standards and patient safety
