Job summary

Marie Curie UK in Solihull seeks experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists to deliver proactive palliative and end-of-life care within a place-based service across six PCNs.

You will identify patients earlier, review end-of-life registers, undertake holistic assessments and support care planning and escalation conversations. The role is permanent, with full-time or part-time hours, based in Solihull.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse on the NMC register with a nursing degree and Level 6+ post-registration qualification.
• Experience in specialist palliative care, ideally in community or primary care settings.
• Strong knowledge of complex symptom management and advance care planning.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage a caseload and influence multidisciplinary decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for sensitive conversations with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist palliative care nursing across the Solihull Identification and Support Service.
• Support earlier identification via register review and MDT participation.
• Undertake holistic assessment, care planning and symptom management.
• Support advance care planning and treatment escalation conversations.
• Coordinate care with GP practices, community services and hospice partners.
• Help reduce avoidable crisis presentations and hospital admissions.
• Contribute to pathway development, data collection and routine reporting.
• Apply quality improvement methods to demonstrate impact.
