Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is looking for a Painting & Decorating Trainer in Wigan to transition from hands-on site work into a teaching role. You will deliver practical and classroom-based training to develop employability and trade skills, using real-world methods.

The position offers permanent employment, 37 hours per week, with full support to gain a recognised teaching qualification and benefits as part of a well-established FE provider.

Qualifications

• Experience in Painting & Decorating and related construction work.
• Willingness to transition into education with support to obtain teaching qualifications.
• Ability to plan engaging sessions and assess learner progress.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Painting & Decorating training across practical and theory-based programmes.
• Demonstrate preparation, application, finishing and quality-checking techniques.
• Teach learners how to use tools, materials and workshop equipment safely.
• Develop learner knowledge of professional standards, customer expectations and industry practice.
• Plan sessions that build practical ability and technical understanding.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain records of attendance, assessment, progress and achievement.
• Support learners towards apprenticeships and employment.
• Promote health, safety and professional conduct.
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement.
• Support Open Evenings and College events.
