Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced Painter/Decorator (Mould Treatment Operative) for domestic council properties across Kettering and Corby. The role focuses on painting, decorating and mould treatment, preparing properties for occupancy and maintaining temporary accommodation.

You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with pay £18.44 per hour PAYE. A NVQ in Painting and Decorating, mould treatment experience, asbestos awareness and a clean UK driving licence are

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and decorating in social housing properties.
• Treat mould and prepare surfaces for redecoration.
• Ensure properties are ready for occupancy after work.
• Work safely at height and follow health and safety procedures.
• Identify hazards (asbestos materials, MDF) and follow procedures.
• Travel between properties using council vehicles as required.

Job Description – Painter/Decorator (Mould Treatment Operative)

Location: Fleming Road Depot, Corby, NN17 4SW
Working Area: Kettering and Corby
Pay Rate: £18.44 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm or 8:00am–4:30pm
Contract: 12 weeks, with the possibility of extension

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Painter/Decorator to join the team, carrying out painting, decorating and mould treatment within domestic council properties across Kettering and Corby.

The successful candidate will help maintain and prepare temporary accommodation and other residential properties to ensure they are clean, presentable and ready for occupancy.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and decorating work within domestic council and social housing properties.
• Treat mould in residential properties and prepare affected surfaces for redecoration.
• Complete all work to a high standard, ensuring properties are maintained and ready for occupancy.
• Work safely at height, including when using ladders.
• Identify potential hazards, including asbestos-containing materials and MDF, and follow appropriate health and safety procedures.
• Drive council vehicles under 3.5 tonnes between properties and work locations as required.
• Work across different properties, including older buildings and structures.

Essential Requirements

• NVQ qualification in Painting and Decorating.
• At least 24 months of hands-on experience as a qualified Painter and Decorator.
• Previous experience working in the painting and decorating industry, including within social housing.
• Knowledge and experience of mould treatment in domestic properties.
• A current Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
• Experience working with the interiors of older buildings and structures.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Experience driving commercial vehicles under 3.5 tonnes.
• Access to a vehicle for commuting and occasional business use.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a reliable, practical and experienced Painter/Decorator with strong domestic maintenance skills and an understanding of social housing environments. They will take pride in their work, follow health and safety procedures and be comfortable travelling between properties to complete maintenance and mould treatment tasks.

Your CV must clearly demonstrate your domestic mould treatment experience, current Asbestos Awareness Certificate and previous painting and decorating experience within social housing to be considered for the role.
