Job summary

Hartford Care is seeking a skilled Painter & Decorator to join the Maintenance Team and keep our care homes safe, comfortable, and well maintained across Kent. You will travel between homes and carry out internal and external painting tasks with a focus on quality and safety.

The role requires a robust decorating background, strong communication, the ability to work independently or in a team, and a clean driving licence. DBS check will be completed prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out painting and decorating tasks, prep, repair and finish internal and external areas.
• Work safely at height using ladders, scaffolding and access equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and minimise disruption to residents and staff.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks (plumbing, tiling, minor repairs).
• Travel between care homes to support the maintenance team.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures at all times.

Employment Type: Full-time - 40 hours per week

This role includes travel to our care homes in the county of Kent, so a driving licence and a vehicle is essential.

We’re looking for a skilled Painter & Decorator to join our friendly Maintenance Team, helping us keep our care homes safe, comfortable, and beautifully maintained for the people who live and work in them.

What You’ll Do

• Carry out all painting and decorating tasks, including preparation, repair, and finishing of internal and external areas.
• Work safely at height using ladders, scaffolding, and access equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and minimise disruption to residents and staff.
• Support general maintenance tasks (e.g. basic plumbing, tiling, minor repairs).
• Travel between homes as required to support the maintenance team.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures at all times.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Robust and high-quality painting and decorating experience with a keen eye for detail
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, maintaining a high degree of skill and professionalism
• Ability to work at height
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
• Full and clean driving licence

Desirable

• Painting and Decorating Qualification
• Previous experience within a care setting
• Knowledge of working with people who live with dementia
• Previous experience of carrying out general maintenance tasks
• Good IT skills and knowledge including robust skills in using apps and systems on iPads and other IT equipment
