Job summary

Wheatley Homes South in Stranraer is seeking a skilled Painter and Decorator to deliver a reliable painting and decorating service across local repairs and void properties. You will work in empty and tenanted properties, focusing on customer excellence and right-first-time delivery while meeting KPIs, health and safety, and compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate is a time-served tradesperson with 3–5 years' experience, a City & Guilds Painting and Decorating qualification, and good IT/PDAs

Job title: Painter and Decorator

Salary: £33,904 per annum based on 40hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Work pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

Location: Stranraer with work through Wigtown and the Stewartry

About the role

The successful candidate will provide a reliable, skilled, efficient and professional Painting & Decorating Service for Wheatley Homes South. Working in local areas delivering a Repairs and Void service, the successful candidate will work be required to work in both empty and tenanted properties. The focus of the role will be on Customer Excellence, providing a Right First Time Service and ensuring that Key Performance Indicators as well as Health and Safety and Compliance Requirements are adhered to.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be a time served painter and decorator with 3 - 5 years relevant experience as a tradesperson. We would expect the successful candidate to be able to undertake minor patch plastering and the remediation of damp and mould. A PDA shall be provided so the successful candidate will require good IT skills and preferably have a working knowledge of PDAs. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role as are the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team. Excellent time management and organisational skills are required in order to ensure that productivity targets are attained. A strong knowledge and experience of Health and Safety legislation including COSHH requirements are needed for the role and a formal qualification such as a City & Guilds Painting and Decorating Qualification shall be required.
