Paint Sprayer - Solihull

Paint Technician / Sprayer required to join a prestige automotive manufacturer based in Solihull on a 3-shift rotation paying £29.22 per hour (PAYE).

A world-leading automotive manufacturer of prestige and high-value vehicles is seeking a Paint Technician to join their team of specialists. The company is known for pushing the boundaries of innovation and setting standards within the automotive industry.

They are recruiting an Automotive Paint Technician / Sprayer on a contract basis. Based in Solihull, working a 3-shift rotation, the successful candidate will benefit from an uplifted hourly rate of £35.80 per hour (Umbrella PAYE – depending on shift).

The role involves working on specialist panels and components requiring high-specification paint finishes. Responsibilities include quality-focused spray painting of high standards to showcase luxury models, high-performance options, and limited editions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of panels and parts for painting
  • Colour matching and mixing paints
  • Spray painting using various techniques
  • Applying basecoats, primers, lacquers, and finishes
  • Blending paint
  • Performing blow-ins and smart repairs
  • Flattening and polishing using specialist methods
  • Working with various paints including solid, two-pack, metallic, pearlescent, matte, and special paints
  • Experience with prototype and high-end cars is desirable
  • Adhering to health and safety standards using PPE
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
Ideal Candidate:
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in automotive discipline (desired)
  • Experience in a Special Vehicle Operation environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of H&S, C.O.S.H, and environmental procedures
  • Flexible with working hours, including shifts and overtime
  • Willing to travel between sites as required
Working Hours:

36 hours per week, on a 3-shift rotation:

  • Earlies: 6am – 1.30pm (Mon-Thu), 6am – 12pm (Fri)
  • Lates: 1.30pm – 9pm (Mon-Thu), 12pm – 6pm (Fri)
  • Nights: 9pm – 6am (Mon-Thu)
Pay Rate:

£29.22 per hour (PAYE), uplifted to £35.80 per hour via Umbrella PAYE. This role is inside IR35.

The final pay includes hourly rate, holiday pay, and employer contributions.
