Job description

We are working with an established specialist business within the forklift and materials handling industry, supporting customers with the refurbishment, preparation, repair and maintenance of a wide range of forklift trucks and attachments. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Paint Prepper & Paint Sprayer to join their busy workshop team in Mansfield.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work and has a strong eye for detail. You will also be involved in stripping and reassembling panels and wheels, with some basic mechanical work required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove wheels, panels and other components from forklift trucks and attachments.
  • Clean, degrease, scrape and sand surfaces ready for painting.
  • Fill dents, cracks and damaged areas where required.
  • Mask and protect areas that should not be painted.
  • Prepare and spray forklifts, attachments and components using 2-pack paint.
  • Reassemble panels, wheels, batteries and other components following completion.
  • Use spray booth equipment, clean air systems, heating controls, compressors and air guns safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
  • Prepare paints and maintain brushes, rollers and other equipment.
  • Correctly store paints and materials to ensure they remain in good condition.
  • Carry out basic mechanical tasks such as changing tyres and steam cleaning machinery.
  • Work closely with engineers and other workshop staff to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures at all times.
About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in paint preparation, industrial painting, vehicle painting or a similar environment, with a good understanding of surface preparation and spraying techniques. Experience using 2-pack paint would be highly beneficial.

You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and completing work to agreed timescales, while maintaining a high standard of finish. Good attention to detail, hand-eye coordination and a methodical approach are essential.
