Job summary

Sammons Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Paint Sprayer to join a busy automotive team in Eastbourne. You will prepare vehicles, apply paints, and finish to a high standard, using modern systems and colour matching to achieve professional results.

The role requires careful attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and a strong understanding of vehicle refinishing. A full UK driving licence is preferred, and you’ll work a standard day shift with occasional Saturday work on a rota.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Paint Sprayer or vehicle paint technician in a busy bodyshop.
  • Strong knowledge of modern paint systems and vehicle refinishing techniques.
  • Experience with colour matching and paint mixing.
  • Good understanding of vehicle preparation and paint application processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable, organised and accountable for the quality of your work.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork and initiative when needed.
  • Commitment to health and safety and maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles and panels for painting, including sanding, masking, filling and priming.
  • Accurately mix and match paint colours to manufacturer specifications and repair requirements.
  • Apply primers, basecoats and clear coats using spray-painting equipment.
  • Carry out SMART repairs and full vehicle resprays where required.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure paintwork meets required quality standards.
  • Identify and rectify paint defects, including runs, dust contamination, orange peel and colour mismatches.
  • Maintain spray booths, paint equipment and tools in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and handling of hazardous substances.
  • Work closely with other technicians to ensure efficient vehicle turnaround.
  • Complete work within agreed timescales while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
  • Monitor paint and consumable stock levels and report shortages when required.
  • Carry out final quality checks before vehicles are released.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional working environment.
  • Support colleagues with other duties where required.

Job description
