Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated registered Sick Children’s nurse to join the Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (SSPAU) at Northumbria Hospital. The role covers 37.5 hours per week with options for full-time, part-time or flexible working.

The post offers paralleled progression, preceptorship and access to extensive training within a busy acute paediatric setting, including emergency care and 24-hour inpatient support.

Qualifications

• Registered Sick Children’s Nurse with DipHE (Child)
• Post-registration qualification in nursing
• Mentor registration or equivalent
• Evidence of qualification to supervise, teach and assess students (within 12 months)

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care as part of the ward team.
• Coordinate nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff.
• Maintain high clinical standards and accountability under the NMC Code.
• Model compassionate leadership to enable learning and quality improvement.
