Job summary

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, based in Merthyr Tydfil, is recruiting Registered Children's Nurses for the acute Paediatric Ward and Children's Outpatient Department at Prince Charles Hospital. The post is a fixed term/secondment for 16 months to cover maternity leave, with support from a dedicated team.

You will provide holistic care to children and families, lead shifts in the absence of the ward manager, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Children's Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the ward, for a span of duty, on a shift by shift basis in the absence of the ward manager/deputy sister.
• Work as a skilled member of the team and to provide high standards of holistic care to the child and family in a variety of settings.
• Be an effective team leader and role model to new/less experienced staff and others.
• Work as a flexible member of the ward team in support of the senior members of the team.
• Assess plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multi disciplinary team.
• To ensure that treatment prescribed by the medical staff is carried out, and that multi-disciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patients’ treatment and condition.
• To assist in the safety of the ward environment, actively participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues including reporting and incidents.
