Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse to join its Special School Nursing Team on a term-time basis. The post covers 24.5 hours per week across five days, serving five schools in Huddersfield and Calderdale, with a main base at one site.

You will care for children with complex needs, train school staff, and support junior staff within the school setting. The role requires NMC registration in a relevant field, plus post-registration qualifications

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse in relevant field or within 6 months of completing a validated degree.
• Practice Assessor/Supervisor qualification or willingness to complete.
• Post-registration qualification relevant to specialty.
• Teaching and leadership qualifications are desirable.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate care for children and young people in school setting.
• Identify and provide child-specific health care procedures, training for school staff.
• Use professional knowledge to provide evidence-based practice.
• Contribute to safeguarding of disabled children, young people and young adults.
• Demonstrate innovative practice and support new ways of working.
• Demonstrate robust assessment skills and coordinate with other agencies.
