Job summary

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Paediatric Respiratory Sleep/LTV Physiologist to join our Paediatric Respiratory Sleep team. You will diagnose, assess and manage children with sleep and respiratory disorders, including obstructive sleep apnoea, hypoventilation and chronic conditions, working with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Scientific knowledge acquired through formal training in healthcare science respiratory (or equivalent)
• Experience in a respiratory or sleep physiology laboratory or similar clinical environment
• Experience working with children in a healthcare setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work independently with patient safety in mind
• Willingness to undertake further training and develop clinical skills
• Flexibility to work across shifts, including nights
• Ability to use initiative and prioritise objectives

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient and home sleep services in coordination with Sleep & Respiratory Technicians and Sleep Physiologists
• Organise and run clinics; train families to use home sleep study equipment
• Analyse sleep study results and provide specialist interpretation for Respiratory clinicians
• On two scheduled night shifts per month, perform LTV titration sleep studies and adjust ventilator settings
• Assist in managing the waiting list and diary management for sleep studies
