Job description

Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Band 6 / Band 7
Southampton, Winchester and Ringwood | Permanent | Three, four or five days per week
£39,959–£49,387 per year full‑time equivalent, pro rata for agreed hours and working year

Looking for a permanent paediatric OT role with flexible working arrangements, home-based report writing and opportunities to develop your specialist skills?

Recruit by Nature is supporting an established specialist paediatric occupational therapy practice seeking an experienced therapist to work with children and young people across Southampton, Winchester, Ringwood and surrounding areas.

You’ll combine community clinical work with home‑based administration, managing your diary within clinical and service requirements. Clinical appointments take place in schools, family homes and the clinic, with some online delivery.

Clinic attendance in Crondall, Hampshire, is required as needed, with more frequent attendance during the first three to four months for induction and training.

The opportunity:
  • Three, four or five days per week, with a minimum of 22.5 hours across three days.
  • Term‑time through to year‑round arrangements, with a minimum working year of 38 weeks.
  • Preferred start in January 2027.
  • Opportunities for a suitable Band 6 therapist to develop towards Band 7, subject to competence and agreement.

Actual salary will reflect your agreed hours and working year.

Your role

You’ll support a varied paediatric caseload, including autistic children and young people with sensory, motor, functional and self‑regulation needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing assessments using standardised tools, clinical observation and reasoning.
  • Developing therapy goals, intervention plans and practical recommendations.
  • Delivering therapy and reviewing progress.
  • Writing clear clinical reports, notes and recommendations.
  • Advising and supporting parents, carers, teachers and other professionals.
  • Working collaboratively with schools, healthcare professionals and local authorities.
  • Contributing to EHCP assessments and reports, with tribunal involvement where required.
  • Managing your caseload, appointments, travel and reporting effectively.
  • Participating in supervision, joint working and professional development.
About you

You’ll need:

  • A BSc degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration and RCOT membership.
  • Relevant paediatric occupational therapy experience and the clinical independence appropriate to Band 6 or Band 7.
  • Experience using standardised assessments.
  • Experience supporting autistic and other neurodivergent children and young people.
  • Confidence assessing needs, planning interventions and writing reports independently.
  • A valid DBS, subject to the employer’s checking requirements.
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
  • The ability to cover the advertised area and attend the Crondall clinic when required.

Sensory integration training is highly desirable. Therapists without this training are welcome to apply.

EHCP, specialist‑school or tribunal experience would also be valuable.

Support and benefits:
  • Structured supervision, including at least weekly supervision during the initial three‑month induction period.
  • Monthly CPD meetings and access to an e‑learning platform.
  • Joint working and continuing training opportunities, including sensory integration and other relevant courses.
  • Support from an established clinical and administrative team.
  • Salary sacrifice arrangements.
  • Quarterly team socials.

Benefit eligibility and training arrangements will be discussed during recruitment.
