Job summary

Southern Hospice Group is seeking a Paediatric Nurse Consultant to lead the COAST service across Sussex, delivering expert, 24/7 paediatric palliative care across hospice, home, community, and hospital settings.

You will combine advanced clinical practice with strategic leadership, education, and research to influence care across the wider system and mobilise COAST into a sustainable service aligned with NICE guidance.

Qualifications

Significant experience in paediatric palliative/end of life care or children with complex care needs
Senior nursing leadership with ability to shape practice and inspire confidence
Experience in service development, mobilisation, governance and audit

Responsibilities

Provide advanced specialist paediatric palliative and end-of-life care across hospice, home, hospital and community settings
Lead complex symptom management and clinical decision‑making
Support families through conversations, advance care planning and ReSPECT discussions
Drive mobilisation of a 24/7 paediatric palliative care service
Influence regional strategy and shape COAST into a sustainable 24/7 service
Lead quality improvement, governance, research and education initiatives
Represent SHG at local, regional and national forums
