Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Paediatric Oncology & Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver expert, compassionate care across the patient pathway from diagnosis through survivorship or palliative/end-of-life care.

You will act as a key worker, providing clinical advice, symptom management, education, psychosocial support and care coordination across hospital and regional services, reporting to the Lead Nurse for Children's Cancer.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse on the NMC register.
• Level 7 Post Graduate Certificate or Master’s in relevant specialty.
• Specialist training / qualification in area of practice.
• Provide evidence of leading learning in practice.
• Evidence of completing all Band 6 competencies in the relevant specialty.
• Specialist clinical skills in paediatric oncology and palliative care.
• Experience in change management, leadership and innovation.
• Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist, evidence-based nursing care to children and young people with neuro-oncology and palliative care needs.
• Demonstrate expert clinical advice, symptom management, education, psychosocial support and care coordination.
• Coordinate care across hospital and regional services with multidisciplinary teams.
• Report to the Lead Nurse for Children's Cancer and contribute to service development, governance and quality improvement.
• Participate in established specialist palliative care on-call arrangements when required.
