Qualifications

Role Overview:

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Complex Care Assistant to provide care for a 3-year-old child who requires support with their daily needs. The role is for 21 hours per week, split into three 7-hour shifts (9am-4pm) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The primary duties involve providing support at home, assisting with the child’s transition to and from nursery, and caring for them at the nursery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at the family home at 9am to provide support until the child is ready for nursery.
  • Accompany the child to nursery, with the family carer following in their own vehicle (nursery is approximately a 10-minute drive; details to follow).
  • Provide care at the nursery for 3 hours while the child attends.
  • Assist the parents when they pick up the child from nursery, at which point the carer can head home.
  • Provide clinical care including PEG feeding, seizure management, rescue medication administration, and personal care as needed.
  • Assist with moving and handling, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety at all times.
  • Follow the child’s routine and adapt to any changing needs throughout the day.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience or training in PEG feeding, seizure management, and rescue medications.
  • Ability to assist with personal care and moving and handling tasks.
  • Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with complex care needs, is desirable.
  • Reliable, flexible, and punctual with a commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
  • Comfortable with driving or accompanying the child to and from nursery (car provided).
  • Excellent communication skills to work with both the family and the care team.

In addition, we provide shadow shifts and bespoke competency sessions that will ensure you’re fully supported as you gain confidence in delivering expert, compassionate care.
