Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Paediatric Tertiary Epilepsy Nurse to join the team on a 9-month fixed-term basis for maternity leave cover. The role works with consultants, epilepsy nurse specialists and the multidisciplinary team to deliver expert care for children with complex epilepsy across Hampshire and the surrounding region.

Qualifications

• RN Child with significant post-registration paediatric experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills; able to work autonomously.
• Desirable: paediatric neurology or epilepsy experience; involvement in quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing care, advice and support for children and young people with complex epilepsy in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Act as a key contact for patients and families; deliver telephone, virtual and face-to-face support.
• Coordinate care across tertiary, secondary, community and educational settings.
• Contribute to nurse-led clinics, transition services and service development.
• Support education on epilepsy safety, medication management and SUDEP awareness.
