Job description

Overview

Manchester Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Paediatric Cross Sectional Lead Radiographer for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital site.

The successful candidate should have significant experience in leading and developing an MRI and CT service, teaching and training more junior staff and in service management. You will be expected to undertake both clinical work and manage the service within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital across 1 MRI Scanner and 1 CT Scanner. The successful candidate will be expected to deputise for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital site lead when required.

Responsibilities
  • Act as lead radiographer for the MR and CT imaging services at RMCH, seeking ways to develop the service; provide expert support and leadership for other senior radiographers and support staff.
  • Manage day-to-day radiographic staffing levels in the departments in collaboration with the site lead.
  • Work with Divisional modality leads for MRI and CT to ensure a consistent approach across the division and optimum efficiency.
  • Collaborate with modality site leads, operations and waiting list managers to manage demand and capacity for OP and IP referrals; monitor scheduling and cancellation prevention; implement action plans to meet corporate and government targets.
  • Lead on training of all MR and CT staff, including competency-based clinical training programs, induction for new starters, identifying training needs, supporting CPD opportunities and ensuring mandatory training is completed annually.
  • Act as MRI responsible person and Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) for CT; ensure safety standards and safe administration of contrast and medicines in line with PGDs; ensure staff compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Significant experience in leading and developing an MRI and CT service; experience in teaching and developing junior staff; experience in service management.
  • Ability to deputise for site lead as required; strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safety, governance and high-quality patient care within paediatric imaging.
