Paediatric Community Health Assistant – Home Visits

Job summary

Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust is recruiting two Paediatric Healthcare Support Workers to join the Children’s Community Nursing Team across community settings including patient homes, special schools and clinics.

You will provide high-quality care to children and young people aged 0–19, perform venous/capillary blood sampling, and record results in electronic records while liaising with the wider MDT. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent.
• Willingness to undertake relevant study.
• NVQ 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• First Aid and health care related courses.
• Previous Community Phlebotomy Experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain venous or capillary blood samples from children and young people.
• Label specimen bottles and prepare for transport to the laboratory.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and record in electronic systems.
• Record results in the patient's electronic records.
• Explain procedures to the child in an age-appropriate way and obtain consent.
