Responsibilities

• Answer calls, take messages and escalate information to staff.
• Assist with patient records and documentation (paper and electronic).
• Coordinate appointments, admissions, transfers and discharge paperwork as directed.

We are seeking compassionate, motivated and innovative Paediatric Clinical Support Workers who have experience working with children and young people and thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team across both our Paediatric Ward and Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), supporting children and young people requiring both emergency and elective care. The role offers a diverse range of clinical experiences and opportunities for professional development.

You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team alongside paediatric consultants, nursing colleagues, emergency department teams, specialist nurses, paediatric advanced clinical practitioners and physiotherapists. Main Duties

• Complete and document Paediatric Early Warning Scores (PEWS) accurately and promptly, recognising and reporting signs of deterioration to the registered nurse or medical team.
• Undertake phlebotomy and collect blood samples from children and young people in accordance with Trust policies, training and competency requirements.
• Support children and young people undergoing investigations, procedures and treatments, using age-appropriate communication and distraction techniques.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to enquiries appropriately, taking messages and escalating information to the relevant member of staff.
• Assist with the completion and maintenance of patient records and documentation, both paper-based and electronic.
• Support the coordination of appointments, admissions, transfers and discharge paperwork under the direction of registered staff
• Ensure clinical areas are clean, tidy, safe and welcoming for children, young people and their families.
• Maintain stock levels of clinical and non-clinical supplies, ensuring storage areas remain organised, safe and adequately stocked.
• Ensure toys, play resources and ward facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
• Participate in daily cleaning schedules, equipment checks and infection prevention measures in line with Trust policy.
