Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Paediatric nurse (Band 6) to join the Inpatient Unit at Heartlands Hospital on a temporary basis. The post is 29 hours per week and ends 31.10.2027.

You will provide senior nursing leadership, coordinate shifts, and ensure high-quality, patient-centred care for children aged 0-16 years. You will deputise for the senior sister, support junior staff, and work within a multidisciplinary team to prioritise patient safety, escalate

Qualifications

• Experience as a paediatric nurse in a busy inpatient unit.
• Ability to deputise for senior staff and lead a team.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shifts and allocate duties to junior staff.
• Ensure patient safety and communicate with the MDT.
• Deputise for the senior sister and uphold clinical standards.
