Job summary

Area Camden is recruiting a Qualified Waking Night Support Worker to provide safe, nurturing overnight care for young people in the Camden area. You will stay awake during shifts, support bedtime routines, and maintain safeguarding procedures while recording notes and liaising with out-of-hours services.

The role requires a commitment to safeguarding, strong communication skills, and the ability to work within a fixed rota pattern.

Qualifications

• Strong team player with energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
• Understanding of safeguarding and how to protect children.
• Able to follow delegated tasks and produce clear, detailed handovers.
• Works in line with Area Camden policies and procedures.
• Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to engage, listen and respond appropriately to children’s needs.

Responsibilities

• Stay awake and alert throughout the shift to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Provide calm, compassionate night-time support.
• Support bedtime routines and suitable nighttime activities.
• Keep accurate records and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Communicate effectively with out-of-hours services and handle calls professionally.
• Follow Area Camden policies and equal-opportunities standards.
• Act as a positive role model for colleagues and young people.
