Job summary

Marie Curie is seeking dedicated Healthcare Assistants for our overnight community-based service in Lanarkshire. You will work one-to-one in patients’ homes, delivering compassionate, person-centred care and ensuring dignity and comfort during the night.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team, with training and support, while recording observations and coordinating with out-of-hours services. A caring, independent approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Six months’ experience delivering care in health or social care.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards it.
• Compassionate and patient-centred approach with strong communication.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Access visit schedules via the electronic tablet system at each shift start.
• Contact patients and families before visits to provide reassurance.
• Attend patients’ homes and liaise with patients, families and out-of-hours service.
• Deliver high-quality, person-centred care including pain/symptom management and fluid intake support.
• Document all care and observations in the electronic records.
• Provide overnight support one-to-one in the patient’s home.
• Escalate concerns to the out-of-hours service promptly.
• Deliver sensitive care following a patient’s death and complete required documentation.
