Job summary

Marie Curie is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant for the Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service, covering a 25 mile radius around Middlesbrough. You will work up to 27 hours part-time on 9-hour night shifts, with permanent contract from Hospice Care at Home Middlesbrough.

You will visit one patient per evening, provide compassionate, one-to-one care, assist with personal care, monitor symptoms, support medications, and maintain records, offering practical and emotional support to families.

Qualifications

• S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is required.
• Relevant palliative community experience.
• Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support.
• Recent experience of providing care and caring for people with life limiting illness or palliative care needs.
• Be a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance is essential with travel up to 25 mile radius from your own home

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight home care following each patient’s established care plan.
• Monitor symptoms, support with medicines in line with the care plan and local guidance.
• Maintain accurate records and provide reassurance and emotional support to patients and families.
