Job summary

SP Electricity North West is seeking an Overhead Lines Trainer to design, develop and deliver high-quality training for overhead line activities up to 33kV. You will coach staff, assess competence and support authorisation while maintaining safety and industry standards.

You will work with employees, apprentices and contractors, delivering technical programmes and ensuring learning resources remain accurate and compliant with policies and legislation.

Qualifications

• LV Live Line operational experience.
• Strong knowledge of overhead line operations and safe working practices.
• Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deliver and evaluate engaging training solutions for employees and contractors.
• Assess and support individuals through trade testing and competence assessments.
• Deliver technical and operational training programmes to meet business needs.
• Provide field-based coaching and practical guidance for safe performance.
• Carry out assurance activities and internal audits of Live Line Rubber Glove Teams.
• Create and maintain training materials, ensuring accuracy and current standards.
• Maintain training records and support authorisation processes.
• Develop authorisation frameworks and role requirements for overhead line operations.
• Support training delivery through practical assessments and professional recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, manufacturers and suppliers on PPE and tools.
