Job summary

Rullion Managed Services is seeking an Overhaul Technician to maintain and repair Hitachi rolling stock at Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre, Edinburgh. The role is shift-based with days and nights, requiring occasional overnight travel and 1 Saturday/Sunday night per roster.

The position is a long-term contract (12+ months) with PAYE £28.82/hour or umbrella £38.27/hour, plus overtime at time and a half. Must pass safety & drug tests and hold UK right to work.

Qualifications

• This safety-critical role requires compliance with health & safety controls.
• Demonstrated safety awareness in an operational engineering environment.
• Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.
• Live within commuting distance (1 hour) of Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre.
• Right to work in the UK and ability to provide proof of qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform Scheduled Overhaul Maintenance activities on rolling stock per plan and schedule.
• Undertake modification requirements to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures.
• Assist in delivery of new trains and maintenance acceptance processes.
• Ensure tasks are completed promptly and perform basic fault rectification.
• Adhere to all health and safety processes and procedures.
• Travel and overnight stays may be required for short periods.
• Update MMS with accurate work details for auditable trail.
• Support Team Leaders and Modifications Managers in production plan delivery.
• Record work activities and stock usage in MMS per procedures.
• Attend training courses as required and assist as needed.

Overhaul Technician

Location: Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre, Edinburgh, EH8 7SY

12+ Month Initial Contract (Long Term Project)

Standard Pay Rate:

£28.82 /hour PAYE

Equivalent to

£38.27 /hour umbrella

+ Opportunity for overtime, Paid at Time and a Half (1.5%)

This role falls inside IR35 - payment via PAYE or Umbrella Company

Hours / Shifts: Shift Working. Combination of Days and Nights will be required, flexibility required depending on business needs. Please note that 1 Saturday Night as well as 1 Sunday Night will be required out of 4 Example Roster Pattern available upon request.

Function of Role: Undertake corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Scheduled Overhaul Maintenance activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance plan and required delivery schedule
• Undertake Modification requirements of the rolling stock. Maximising efficiency and reducing downtime.
• Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and procedures that support all depot and fleet activities
• Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
• Ensure all tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
• Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
• Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
• Ensure the Maintenance Management System (MMS) is updated with the correct level of detail to provide an auditable trail of work undertaken and enabling reports and trending analysis to be obtained.
• Support the Team Leaders and Overhaul and Modifications Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
• Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
• Attend and complete all associated training courses as required.

License's / Competences

• Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, powered plant and tools
• Experience of working in a modern engineering environment.
• Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational environment.
• Modern fault finding and repair techniques.
• Experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS)
• Experience of performing modifications and overhaul on modern rolling stock.
