Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking a Lead Technician at Neville Hill Outstations in Leeds. You will own servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of rolling stock, operating within a small, supportive team.

The role requires day and night shifts, safety-conscious practices and travel within one hour of the depot. The ideal candidate has HV electrical knowledge, a relevant apprenticeship or HNC/NVQ, and a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Manual Handling certification required.
  • Experience with high voltage electrics.
  • NVQ/educational qualifications in engineering.
  • IT proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook) useful.
  • Rolling stock maintenance and fault-finding experience.
  • Crimping competence qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Owns servicing, complex fault diagnosis and repair of Hitachi Rail rolling stock assets.
  • Work within a small team of Lead Technicians and a Team Leader.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a day/night shift pattern.
  • Adhere to health, safety, environmental and quality practices.
  • Read/interpret traction and rolling stock drawings and specs to guide work.

Due to the nature of the role, there will occasionally be elements of lone working.As part of the Lead Technician team, you will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a structured shift pattern of **days and nights**.
