Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Edinburgh to undertake corrective and preventative maintenance on rolling stock at Craigentinny Train Maintenance Centre. The role is permanent and involves a rotating day/night shift, travel when required, and strong safety compliance.

You will operate on scheduled maintenance tasks, participate in continuous improvement, and document all activities in the maintenance system.

Qualifications

• Served apprenticeship with mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to apply modern fault finding using diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance on rolling stock in a TMC environment.
• Undertake servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
• Undertake driving duties within depot per procedures.
• Participate in continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures.
• Ensure exam tasks are completed on time; perform fault rectification when required.
• Adhere to health and safety processes and procedures.
• Attend testing locations and depots for preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Willingness to travel and overnight away from base as needed.
• Support Maintenance Team Leaders and Duty Shift Managers to deliver production plans.
• Record work activities and stock usage using the maintenance system.
• Work rotating day/night shifts to meet service requirements.
