Job summary

Accountable Recruitment is seeking an experienced Outsourcing Manager in Liverpool to lead a diverse portfolio of clients and shape the growth of our outsourced finance offering.

You will oversee bookkeeping, VAT, management accounts, forecasting and system implementations, acting as a trusted partner to client finance teams. The role requires strong management accounting experience, client facing skills, and a proactive approach to efficiency and automation.

Qualifications

• Experience in outsourced finance or accounting practice.
• Strong management accounts experience with ability to interpret financial information.
• Experience reviewing bookkeeping, VAT, reconciliations and month-end work.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of cloud accounting systems and using technology to improve finance processes.
• Comfort presenting financial information and recommendations to clients.
• Experience supervising or managing junior staff.
• Commercially aware with understanding of budgets, WIP, billing and profitability.
• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification advantageous, though strong experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of outsourcing clients and act as their primary contact.
• Oversee booking, VAT returns, management accounts, reconciliations and month-end close.
• Produce and present management accounts with commentary and recommendations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and cost control for clients.
• Ensure work meets SLAs, deadlines, UK GAAP and HMRC requirements.
• Develop Outsourcing Seniors and Juniors including training and reviews.
• Review existing client processes to improve efficiency and controls.
• Drive standardisation and automation across outsourced finance operations.
• Lead or support accounting system implementations and optimisations.
• Manage portfolio performance including budgets, WIP and profitability.
• Identify opportunities for advisory work and finance function transformation.
• Build long-term relationships as a trusted extension of client finance teams.

Are you an experienced Outsourcing, Management Accounts or Business Services professional looking for a role where you can have a genuine impact on how clients run their finance functions?

A well-established and highly respected accountancy practice in Liverpool is looking to appoint an Outsourcing Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of clients and play a key role in the continued development of its growing outsourced finance offering. You'll act as a trusted finance partner to your clients, overseeing everything from bookkeeping and VAT through to management reporting, forecasting, systems implementation and finance function improvement.

Outsourcing Manager Responsibilities:

• Managing a diverse portfolio of outsourcing clients and acting as their primary point of contact.
• Overseeing and signing off bookkeeping, VAT returns, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close.
• Producing and presenting high-quality management accounts, providing meaningful commentary, insights and recommendations.
• Supporting clients with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and cost control.
• Ensuring client work is delivered accurately and on time, in line with agreed SLAs, statutory deadlines, UK GAAP and HMRC requirements.
• Managing and developing Outsourcing Seniors and Juniors, including workload and capacity planning, training and performance reviews.
• Reviewing existing client finance processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and reporting.
• Driving greater standardisation and automation across outsourced finance operations.
• Leading or supporting accounting system implementation and optimisation projects.
• Managing portfolio performance, including budgets, WIP, billing, profitability and agreed service scope.
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional advisory support, including reporting improvements, process enhancement and wider finance function transformation.
• Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and becoming a trusted extension of their internal finance team.

Outsourcing Manager Attributes:

• Previous experience within an accountancy practice, outsourced finance function or similar client-facing environment.
• Strong management accounts experience with the ability to interpret financial information rather than simply produce it.
• Confident reviewing bookkeeping, VAT, reconciliations and month-end work completed by others.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of cloud accounting systems and an interest in using technology to improve finance processes.
• Comfortable presenting financial information and recommendations directly to clients.
• Previous experience supervising, reviewing or managing junior members of a team.
• Commercially aware, with an understanding of budgets, WIP, billing and profitability.
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification would be advantageous, although strong relevant experience will also be considered.
