Role: Outside Learning Support Worker

Location: Reddish Hall School, Stockport SK5 6UY

Salary: £22,406.25 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Outside Learning Support Worker to join our close-knit team at Reddish Hall School,part of Acorn Education.

About the role

The Learning Outside the Classroom Support Worker supports the delivery of the Learning Outside the Classroom curriculum and off-site educational activities at Reddish Hall School. This role contributes significantly to the school's vision of enabling pupils with SEMH needs—who have often struggled in previous settings—to succeed both socially and academically.

Through engaging, structured, and therapeutic outdoor learning experiences, the Support Worker will help pupils develop essential social, emotional, and behavioural skills to support lifelong learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with the Learning Outside the Classroom Lead and Pupil Enrichment & Experiential Lead to plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality outdoor learning activities.
  • Facilitate a range of physical and outdoor activities across all seasons and weather conditions.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of small-group or 1:1 intervention sessions using outdoor learning approaches (e.g., Forest School or therapeutic activities), aimed at supporting pupils with specific SEMH, behavioural, or social needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil engagement, progress, and outcomes.
  • Maintain and organise outdoor education equipment and resources

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes/qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for the outdoors and for supporting vulnerable young people
  • Experience of delivering (or a willingness to train in delivering) therapeutic or intervention-based programmes through outdoor learning, such as Forest School, sensory regulation activities, or targeted behaviour support.
  • Ability to engage and build trust with pupils through communication, consistency, and empathy.
