Job summary

1st Staff is seeking caring tutors to deliver 1:1 Maths and English sessions to students aged 4–25 with SEND, SEMH and other learning needs. You’ll create tailored lesson plans, track progress and provide regular feedback while building strong relationships with learners and their families.

Roles are located in students' homes, libraries, schools or community venues with part‑time or full‑time hours. PAYE, zero‑hours contracts offer flexible scheduling and access to safeguarding support and CPD

• Experience working with young people (teaching, tutoring, mentoring etc.)
• Confidence supporting SEND/SEMH and challenging behaviours
• Strong communication, patience and empathy
• Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles

1st Staff are a leading nationwide provider supporting children and young people aged 4–25 with additional educational and therapeutic needs. We’re looking for caring, confident tutors to deliver 1:1 Maths and English sessions to students with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD and other learning needs.

What you’ll do

• Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in Maths and English (Science opportunities available)
• Create engaging lesson plans tailored to each student
• Support learners with a range of needs and behaviours

Role details

• Locations: Student’s home, library, school or community venue
• Hours: Part‑time or full‑time (most referrals 10–15 hrs/week; full‑time available with multiple students)
• Contract: PAYE, zero‑hours
