Job summary

Bedspace seeks a dedicated support worker to assist young people and families in gaining independence across Yorkshire. You will manage caseloads, liaise with social workers, healthcare professionals and police, and write detailed reports assessing independent living skills.

The role requires a full driving licence with access to a business-insured vehicle, willingness to travel across Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees and Leeds, and a strong grasp of safeguarding for both adults and children.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting young people or families with complex needs to gain independence.
  • Must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.
  • Willing to travel throughout Yorkshire, covering Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees and Leeds.
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding adults and children.
  • Have or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of service users, helping to build independent living skills.
  • Liaising with relevant professionals such as Social Workers, Healthcare practitioners and the Police.
  • Writing detailed reports which assess a service user's independent living skills.
  • Completely weekly inspections of Service User's properties.
  • Support with accessing and maintaining education/employment.
  • Promote physical, mental and emotional well‑being, de‑escalating challenging situations when they arise.
  • Signposting to appropriate services as required, including mental health, drug rehabilitation services, counselling and education.

Job description

We oversee semi-independent accommodation and outreach services covering Yorkshire County, managing 30+ properties in cities like Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Rotherham, Halifax, Huddersfield and Hull, with ongoing expansion. We support 40+ young individuals who we care for and support at home, imparting skills for independent living. Our focus includes delivering ASDAN, the education program we use to address essential independence skills. We operate within a disciplined team, ensuring optimal outcomes through regular updates and active participation in statutory meetings. Our referrals come from trusted sources such as Local Authority placements teams, including Care Leavers Service, Separated Children, and Adult Services.

Due to the areas this role covers a car driver with a vehicle is essential . The team covers Calderdale, Bradford, Kirklees and Leeds areas but are growing therefore travel flexibility is required. Business mileage is paid at 45p per mile .

About You
