Job summary

Larwood School's Outreach Service is expanding, and we are seeking an Outreach Support Worker to help support mainstream schools across the Stevenage area, addressing SEMH needs.

You will work one-to-one, with small groups and alongside school staff, delivering targeted strategies, producing reports, and contributing to behaviour support plans while building strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in SEMH/SEND or mainstream settings.
• Calm, positive and resilient approach.
• Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple schools with staff across settings.
• Confident supporting individuals, small groups and whole-class activities.
• Excellent organisational and written communication skills.
• Energetic, enthusiastic and value a good sense of humour.
• Must hold a full clean driving license.

Responsibilities

• Support mainstream schools to meet SEMH needs of pupils.

Join Our Expanding Outreach Team

Larwood School is a specialist setting for children aged 5 to 11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As our highly regarded Outreach Service continues to grow, we are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Outreach Support Worker to help support mainstream schools across the Stevenage area.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. Working across a range of educational settings, you will support pupils, staff and families to develop effective approaches that enable children to succeed within their mainstream placements.

About the Role

As an Outreach Support Worker, you will work closely with schools, pupils and families to provide targeted support and practical strategies that address social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting mainstream schools to meet the SEMH needs of pupils.
• Working one-to-one with pupils, with small groups, and alongside school staff.
• Modelling effective behaviour management and engagement strategies.
• Delivering targeted interventions to promote social and emotional development.
• Contributing to the development and review of behaviour and support plans.
• Building positive relationships with schools, families and external professionals.
• Producing accurate reports and providing clear feedback to relevant stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children in SEMH, SEND or mainstream educational settings.
• Demonstrates a calm, positive and resilient approach.
