Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Band 6 Junior Sister to lead general surgery outpatient clinics, including the Breast Centre and Clinics A and D. The post deputises for the Band 7 Senior Sister and Matron, managing staff, rosters and budgets, and running the department day to day.

Clinics cover urology, plastics, gastroenterology, colorectal, bariatrics and senior health for around 65,000 patients monthly.

Qualifications

• NMC registration
• Significant post-registration nursing experience
• Awareness of professional responsibilities and knowledge of current nursing issues

Responsibilities

• Lead the outpatient clinics, including the Breast Centre and Clinics A and D
• Deputise for the Band 7 Senior Sister and Matron
• Ensure excellent nursing care across the department
• Manage staff, including roster management
• Manage budgetary resources
• Carry out day-to-day management and co-ordination of the department
• Ensure education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre- and post-registration students
• Provide specialist knowledge where a post-registration course is essential
