Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment in Huddersfield is seeking Refuse Collectors to join the local waste and recycling team based at Vine Street Depot. You will work outdoors collecting household and commercial waste, helping to keep communities clean and safe.

This is a physically demanding role involving lifting, walking, loading waste, and working in all weather conditions; full training and support provided. Successful candidates must be able to work as part of a team and follow health and safety

Responsibilities

• Collect household and commercial refuse, recycling, garden waste, and bulky items.
• Load and handle waste safely in line with procedures and health and safety guidelines.
• Return bins to designated locations without obstruction.
• Operate lifting equipment safely and correctly.
• Report missed bins, overflowing bins, and any service issues.
• Assist with skip collections and the delivery of bins and liners when required.
• Record basic information using in-cab technology and other systems.
• Communicate professionally with members of the public and colleagues.
• Complete timesheets, accident reports, and other records accurately.
• Support additional cleansing duties such as litter clearance, gritting, snow clearing, and environmental clean-up projects when required.
