Job summary

Dewis CIL in Pontypridd is seeking patient, reliable PAs to support a child with autism in outdoor activities and community access. The role is part-time (3 hours per week) with a 2:1 support ratio and requires a car for local outings.

You will work as part of a two-person team, using clear communication and calm reassurance to help the child enjoy parks, woodlands, sports, and transitions, while keeping the family informed and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with autistic children.
• Patient and adaptable to child’s needs.
• Able to communicate clearly with child and family.
• Willing to drive a car for community outings.

Responsibilities

• Take child to parks, woodlands and outdoor spaces.
• Support child to play football and use trampolines and participate in activities they enjoy.
• Help child feel safe when trying new things or places.
• Use clear communication so the child understands what is happening next.
• Support transitions and changes to routine in a calm way.
• Help manage sensory needs as needed.
• Work as part of a two-PA team for consistency and continuity.
• Keep the family informed about activities and progress.
• Keep child safe at all times.
