Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a Team Leader Environmental Operative to supervise a dedicated Environmental Operations team in maintaining natural areas, waterways, and biodiversity within Liverpool. The role focuses on reactive and ongoing vegetation maintenance, fire mitigation, and biosecurity, contributing to the community’s environmental health.

Ideal candidates will bring bush regeneration experience, team leadership skills, and AQF Level 3 chemical handling accreditation.

Qualifications

• The successful applicant will have a Conservation & Ecosystem Management Certificate III or equivalent.
• Class MR (Medium Rigid) Drivers Licence is required.
• Accreditation and experience in chemical application, handling and storage (AQF Level 3).
• Experience in bush regeneration.
• Experience in supervising, leading and motivating a team including volunteers and community groups.
• Experience coordinating ecological restoration programs and site monitoring.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Environmental Operations team to maintain vegetation, waterways, and biosecurity in natural areas.
• Support delivery of activities including weed management, revegetation, waterway and rain garden maintenance, and fire mitigation.
• Coordinate with the Coordinator, project officers, and contractors to ensure cost-effective, quality work.
