Job summary

Consult seeks an OT Security SME to support a major cybersecurity programme in the UK power sector. The role focuses on cryptographic protection, key management and secure communications across OT environments.

You will work with OT engineering, operations and cybersecurity teams on HSM deployment, PKI integration and CLM across multi-phase projects, ensuring security solutions suit live environments.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of OT/ICS environments (SCADA, RTUs, IEDs, HMIs).
• Experience with HSM in control centers/substations.
• Knowledge of PKI, certificate management and cryptographic key management.
• Familiarity with DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 62351.

Job description

We're seeking an experienced OT Security SME to support a major cybersecurity programme within the UK power sector.

This 12-month contract offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure security, focusing on cryptographic protection, key management and secure communications across operational technology environments.

You'll contribute to a multi-phase programme covering Hardware Security Module (HSM) implementation, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) integration and Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM). Working alongside OT engineering, operations and cybersecurity teams, you'll help assess deployment options, support testing and ensure security solutions are suitable for live operational environments.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Strong understanding of OT/ICS environments, including SCADA, RTUs, IEDs and HMIs.
• Knowledge of HSM deployment within control centres and substations.
• Experience or understanding of PKI architecture, certificate management and cryptographic key management.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus and IEC 62351.
• Understanding of OT network segmentation, DMZ design and the Purdue Model.
• Awareness of IEC 62443, NERC CIP and NCSC CAF requirements.
• Experience supporting proof-of-concept testing, failover validation and OT security integration.
• Understanding of OT change control, maintenance windows and operational safety requirements.

Location: Shiremoor, UK | Hybrid, 2-3 days per week on-site.
