Job summary

Gazelle Global seeks an experienced OT Security SME to support a major cybersecurity programme within the UK power sector. The role focuses on cryptographic protection, key management and secure communications across OT environments.

You will work with OT engineering, operations and cybersecurity teams to assess deployment options, support testing and ensure security solutions are suitable for live operational environments during a 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• Experience in OT/ICS environments like SCADA, RTUs, IEDs, HMIs.
• Knowledge of HSM deployments in control centres and substations.
• Experience with PKI, certificate management and cryptographic key management.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 62351).

Responsibilities

• Support HSM and PKI deployment decisions within OT environments.
• Assist testing and validation activities for security solutions in live OT contexts.
• Ensure OT security measures meet operational safety requirements and change-control processes.

Job description

We're seeking an experienced OT Security SME to support a major cybersecurity programme within the UK power sector.

This 12-month contract offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure security, focusing on cryptographic protection, key management and secure communications across operational technology environments.

You'll contribute to a multi-phase programme covering Hardware Security Module (HSM) implementation, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) integration and Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM). Working alongside OT engineering, operations and cybersecurity teams, you'll help assess deployment options, support testing and ensure security solutions are suitable for live operational environments.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Strong understanding of OT/ICS environments, including SCADA, RTUs, IEDs and HMIs.
• Knowledge of HSM deployment within control centres and substations.
• Experience or understanding of PKI architecture, certificate management and cryptographic key management.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus and IEC 62351.
• Understanding of OT network segmentation, DMZ design and the Purdue Model.
• Awareness of IEC 62443, NERC CIP and NCSC CAF requirements.
• Experience supporting proof-of-concept testing, failover validation and OT security integration.
• Understanding of OT change control, maintenance windows and operational safety requirements.
