Job summary

Thames Water seeks an OT Compute System Engineer to manage and support OT enterprise systems. Hybrid base in Reading with 36-hour work week, Mon-Fri. You will ensure compliance, security, and reliability of compute infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments.

You’ll work with Active Directory, SCCM, VMware and Azure, contribute to Industry 4.0 initiatives, and participate in on-call duties after probation. Security clearance to SC level is required.

Qualifications

• Higher education qualification (HNC or equivalent) in engineering or IT.
• Proven experience maintaining, patching, and supporting infrastructure and enterprise systems.
• SC level security clearance.
• Familiarity with enterprise administration: Active Directory, SCCM, VMware, Azure.
• IP networking knowledge (LAN/WAN).
• Understanding of IT/OT delivery approaches (ITIL/Agile/Waterfall/Lean).
• Willingness to learn SCADA systems and Industry 4.0 solutions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and patch OT compute infrastructure, manage lifecycle and licenses.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver new technical solutions, including cloud technologies.
• Serve as incident response lead, resolving issues quickly under pressure.
• Design and implement infrastructure changes (high- and low-level designs).
• Ensure system security compliance via audits and proactive management.
• Support updates across application, OS, BIOS, and hypervisors.
• Administer enterprise technologies: AD, SCCM, VMware, SEP, Dell OpenManage, patch tools, NTP, PKI, Hybrid Azure.
• Contribute to Industry 4.0 solutions within OT compute domain.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rota for critical OT systems.
• Collaborate with other tech teams for deployments and improvements.
• Stay current with best practices and act as SME in compute domain.
