Job summary

NHS National Services Scotland is seeking an experienced Orthopaedic Trauma Co-ordinator to join the Orthopaedic Trauma Service. You will act as the central point of contact, coordinating patient pathways from admission to surgery while collaborating with doctors, theatre teams and nursing staff.

The role emphasises efficient patient flow, prioritising trauma lists and minimising delays. PVG scheme membership is required; strong communication and autonomy are essential for high-quality

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in orthopaedic trauma nursing and theatre pathways.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Able to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions.
• Commitment to patient-centred care and service improvement.
• Competent with digital systems and technology.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prioritise daily orthopaedic trauma operating lists.
• Assess, plan and evaluate patient care throughout the acute trauma pathway.
• Act as a patient advocate with clear communication for patients and families.
• Liaise with theatre and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate timely treatment.
• Provide expert advice on orthopaedic trauma care.
• Support quality improvement, audits and service development.
• Maintain records and contribute to electronic systems such as E-Trauma.
