Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Therapy Assistant for the Elective Orthopaedics service. You will participate in assessment, pre and post-operative treatment, and discharge planning for inpatients and day case patients, including provision of walking aids and equipment to facilitate timely discharge.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and organisational skills required.
Previous work as Therapy/Care Assistant with direct patient care.
Experience with physical impairment and/or cognitive dysfunction desirable.
Knowledge of effects of physical/cognitive impairment on function and the role of therapy.
DSB check required per Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Responsibilities

Participate in assessment, pre and post-operative treatment, management and discharge planning.
Prescribe and provide walking aids and equipment to aid timely discharge.
Maintain accurate records of equipment provision and deliver equipment around the hospital.
Work flexible hours including evenings and a 1 in 4 weekend pattern.
